So, you have to be able to start with what you have? Do you have any decorative pieces? You more than likely already have a piece of furniture that you are not ready to part ways with. Focus on the things that you already own and love and make those your focal point. If you have a collection of rustic birdhouses, delicate china, or gorgeous crystal, then you can use these as the start of your plan of decoration.You can always start with a brand new or old area rug in your home decorating plan. With patterned rugs you are able to keep all the other elements simple as then the rug becomes your focal point. Focus on a beautiful rug instead of the paint or fabrics. Pick colors from the pattern of the rug and use them throughout the entire room when it comes down to the accessories, furniture, fabrics, and even painting the walls.
You can also start with an art piece that you love and make this your focal point. It will now depend on the style of the art as to what type of decorating that you do.
